There is no other race like this one. It's the hardest. It's the loneliest. It's the most beautiful. It's the most frustrating. It's the one that can change your life.

Every day you think about giving up, and actually most people do. But there quite nothing like getting to Antelope Wells after suffering so much. Sleep deprivation, freezing cold, scorching heat, strong headwinds, wet nights, dehydration, hunger, nagging injuries, rough trails, washboards... everything is forgotten once you see that border checkpoint.

It took me 16 days and 25 minutes to get there. I was the first rookie and ranked third overall along with my good friend Kevin Jacobsen of Montana.

It is my greatest achievement to date and something I will forever be proud of.
